Two of my favorite horse subjects browse
in the dawn light among the sere, golden
grasses and prairie flowers of Tailgate Ranch,
near my studio. These two are always together,
looking out for each other, and often stand
side-by-side, heads to tails, so they can
swish the flies away from each other's faces
on long, hot summer days. I love the way that
their white coats are always changing color
with the light and the time of day, so I
continue to paint them again and again.
It also helps that they stand still for long periods
of time! Good girls.
